Wednesday 3 February 2010 - Annual General Meeting 2010

Despite heavy snow in the late afternoon and very difficult conditions both underfoot and on the roads the Captain, Malcolm McCreath, welcomed a good number of Members to this year's AGM in the Clubhouse on Tuesday 2nd February. Finance convener, Willie Gray, led the meeting through the Annual Accounts, after which he answered various questions from the floor, including the tricky subject of VAT, Partial Exemption and the de minimis rules! He finished by commenting on the healthy state of the Club's affairs.
Office Bearers were unanimously re-elected as recommended by the Council:
Club President: R.Mel Sim
Vice President: John A. MacBean
Club Captain: Malcolm J.R. McCreath
Vice Captain: James A. Grant
Standing down from the Council were Dr Willie Gray and Messrs Dougie Gordon and Fraser Sharp. Elected to the Council were Mrs Linda Ross and Messrs Iain Cormack and Steven Rooney.

The Captain reported on the progress of the Steering Group and, in particular, on plans to redevelop the Clubhouse to improve the changing facilities for both Members and visitors alike. Other major expenditure had been approved to create a service area on the course for the greenkeepers, which would begin in the Spring with a self-contained wash-bay area for course equipment.

Monday 29 March 2010 - Opening Match (Captain vs Vice-Captain)

Yesterday (Sunday 28th March) the Club Captain welcomed around 75 Members to the official opening of the new season and signalled the occasion by raising the Club flag.

The ceremony was followed by the annual Opening Match, a matchplay event with a shotgun start, between teams of Members representing the Club Captain, Malcolm McCreath), versus the Vice-Captain, James A Grant.  Unfortunately the weather deteriorated and credit is due to the players who all completed the round despite the constant rain and blustery conditions.  After the event, which was won by the Vice-Captain 9½ - 7½,  players enjoyed an excellent complimentary meal from new Steward Kerrie Cole and her team.

Members are now looking forward to the easing in to the new season with two non-counting competitions over the Easter weekend:
The Gents lead the way on Saturday with the 5 club Stableford event (Members' times) followed on Sunday by the Easter Texas Scramble, open to Ladies and Gents.
