





Boat of Garten’s seniors led the way on Friday with their annual Stableford competition for the Burntisland Quaich. Making the most of the benign conditions David Holton took the trophy with 40 points, well clear of Graham MacPherson who edged 3rd place from Alan Boxx after both finished with 38 points.

The following day the August medals were also played in ideal conditions and a CSS of 69. In the men’s Section 1 early starter Steve Thomas (6) set a target of 68, which was only bettered late in the day by Shaun MacBean (6) with 67 earning a cut in his handicap. Playing in the final group Graeme Tregaskis (7) came closest with another 68 but had to settle for 2nd spot. In Section 2, it was Andy Brock (15) whose early 68 proved too good for the rest of the field, with the places filled by Reg Proud (12) and Ron Lyon (15) who both posted 70.

Next up was the Ladies’ Monthly Medal where in the Silver Section (0-20) Christine Aitken (20) 75 pipped Fiona Roger (12) for the prize by one stroke, both well clear of Ann Weller (18) 79 in third place. The Bronze section (20-36) was very close with Sue McLaren (22) 78 edging out Catriona Shand (35) on countback. Christine Reid (23) claimed 3rd spot with 79. On Sunday the men lined up in teams of 3 for the Ian Ferguson Tri-Am Cup, a better ball competition. Although scores were close the trophy was won by Shaun MacBean, Darren Proud and John MacBean on 58. Runners-up on countback were Bruce Murray, Ian Turner and Bobby Davidson from Ron Lyon, Andy Grigor and Robbie Wilkie after both teams finished with 61 points. Leading scores – S.A. MacBean (5), D.J.
