




Saturday was Captains’ Day and a healthy entry saw close scoring in both the gents and ladies events, despite the breezy conditions. In the Captain’s Prize Gordon MacDonald (5) set the early pace with 37 points and was almost matched by Steven Thomas (7), Steven McRitchie (16) and Ian Cassells (11) all playing to their handicaps and scoring 36 pts. It was Donald Watt (13) who came through to land the Prize with 38 pts, although he was nearly caught by late finisher Shaun MacBean (8) taking runners-up spot for the 2nd year in a row on 37 pts.

The Ladies’ Captain’s Prize was very closely contested and the swirling wind resulted in a CSS of 74. Jean Watt (27), Isobel Watson (19) and Margaret Thompson (18) all returned scores of 32pts but it was Jean Watt who prevailed after countback, completing a family double after husband Donald took the gents’ prize. Brenda Hughes (22) took 4th spot with 31pts just ahead of Mariona Macadam (25) and Christine Reid (23).
