Monday 18 July 2011 - Results for week ending 17th July

At Boat of Garten last Saturday was Captains’ Day and a large entry produced good scores in both the gents and ladies events, despite the unseasonal conditions. The Captain’s Prize (CSS 68) saw a close finish with early starter Alan Walker (9) setting the target with 39 points, which was soon matched by Lewis MacBean (8) and junior member Greg Fitzsimmons (14).  Steven Thomas (7) took the lead with 40 points only to be pipped himself by eventual winner Rory Simpson (7) with 41pts. Late starter Leslie Paterson (15) managed to equal Simpson’s score but was edged out for the trophy on countback.

The Ladies’ Captain’s Prize was also closely contested producing a CSS of 72.  Lorna Richardson (21), Joan Cairns (23) and Mandy Dougal (23) all returned scores of 34 points but had to settle for the minor placings after they were overtaken by Ann Weller (19) on 35pts and eventual winner, Myrtle Jones (25) with 37pts.  Late starter Aisne Imperiale (35) took 2nd place edging out Weller on countback.
