Monday 25 July 2011 - Results for week ending 25th July

Boat of Garten’s annual Seniors Open on Thursday last week attracted a full complement of 105 players including 86 visitors.  In the race for the Seniors’ Open title early starter Norman MacWilliam (Kingussie) returned 73 which proved too good for the rest of the field, giving MacWilliam the trophy; this made up for being edged out in 2010 by the last player to finish.    After winning the trophy for the lowest overall handicap score with a stunning 64,  visitor Colin Osborne (17) from Hankley Common GC in Surrey attributed his success to ‘the fantastic greens’.  In handicap Section 1 (0-12), Ian Brockie (Murrayfield) (10) took the prize with 66, just ahead of Boat’s John Dingwall (12) 67, with Duncan Cameron (Inverness) (12), James Dykes (Boat) (11) and Gordon Gray (Newmachar (6) filling the other placings after all finished on 68.  In Section 2 (13-24) Doug Davidson (Deeside) (13) finished 1st on 66, just holding off James Byrne (Kingsfield) (19) and Richard Salvin (Blairgowrie) (16) who both returned 67. A feature of the day was an eagle 2 at the par-4 12th by Newmachar’s Fred Gibb.
